As the aging population continues to grow, many families are facing the challenge of supporting their elderly loved ones’ mental health. Whether it’s addressing feelings of isolation, managing cognitive decline, or simply uplifting their spirits, this responsibility can often feel daunting. I’m currently navigating this with my family and would love to hear what strategies you all have found helpful.
I’ve been exploring activities that encourage engagement, such as art therapy and group exercises designed for seniors. Additionally, I’ve noticed some positive changes when we incorporate mindfulness practices, like breathwork, into our daily routine. It may seem like a small step, but taking a few moments to focus on our breathing has helped create a more peaceful environment.
What activities or practices have you found effective for supporting geriatric mental health? Are there any particular resources or programs that you would recommend?
