How do antibiotics and probiotics differ in gut health?

Many people often mix up antibiotics and probiotics when discussing gut health. I was recently talking to a friend who had some digestive issues. Their doctor prescribed antibiotics but also suggested adding probiotics to their routine afterward. It made me curious about how these two actually function in our bodies.

Antibiotics are effective at eliminating harmful bacteria, but they can also destroy beneficial bacteria during the process. In contrast, probiotics are designed to help restore those good bacteria and enhance our gut health. So, how can we best incorporate both into our wellness routines? Are there certain situations where one is more beneficial than the other?

Has anyone here worked on balancing their use of antibiotics and probiotics? What results have you seen from this approach?
