Is Mental Health Hereditary?

I’ve been focusing on my mental wellness lately and have been curious about the role genetics might play in mental health. There’s a lot of talk about whether conditions like anxiety and depression can be inherited, and I can’t help but wonder how much my own experiences might be influenced by my family’s history.

I’ve seen several relatives face similar challenges, which leads me to question the extent of the genetic impact. If there is a hereditary factor, to what degree can we still shape our mental health through lifestyle choices and personal routines?

Has anyone come across relevant research or personal stories on this topic? What are your thoughts? Can we really separate our genetic background from our mental wellness journey, or are they more interconnected than we think?
